Dark Vengeance Deathwing Terminators

Moving on with my Dark Angels project I started to paint the Deathwing Terminators I got from the Dark Vengeance Box. Building upon my Dark Angels Tactical Squad Experience, I went ahead and painted the heavy armored guys. The outcome was much better than my first subjects which could only mean that I learned something or these are just easier minis to paint. I really hope its the latter.

Painting Execution

I forgot to document this step. So I'll just fill this section up when I get my next set of Dark Vengeance terminators (Or Deathwing Command Squad should I have a little extra cash after paying this month's bills). :)

Finished Products

A Regular Deathwing Terminator

Squad Leader

Assault Cannon Guy (I messed up with the assault cannon arm during assembly on this one so I was forced to magnetize it using 2mm disk magnet.)

First Painting Subjects: Dark Vengeance Dark Angels Tactical Marines

After more than a month of trying (and failing) to paint my first full squad, I have finally succeeded in having my 1st squad of Dark Vengeance tactical squad painted near tabletop quality (3 colors visible 3 feet away). Its far from perfect but taking into consideration my painting skills and schedule constraints I'm happy with the way it turned out.

Painting these guys has been quite a task. The figures from the Dark Vengeance kit are very detailed which made it a bit tough for a newbie painter like me.  Right now I am only capable of using doing the "wet brush" (dip and paint) method and wats limited in using that method. Painting took me a considerable amount of time but the cleaning part took me longer which got me to start reading a copy of Citadel's How to Paint Miniatures book.

Execution

I primed them black base coated the figures with Dark Green color from the Vallejo Game Color (VGC) Range. I then picked out the metal parts of the armor and gun barrels and painted them with Gun Metal also from VGC. I then colored the arrows of the tactical shoulder pads, eyes and boltgun bodies with VGC Gory Red. For the dark angel insignia I painted it with White from the Vallejo Model Color range. Finally, I painted the Aquila and skull decorations with VGC Glorious Gold

The next step for this model is to base them properly but I still can't decide as to what kind base they will be on. I'll probably finish my next Dark Angels project first before and base them together for a more cohesive theme.

Next in line to be painted for my Dark Angels Army are the Dark Vengeance Deathwing Terminators (the ones base coated bone white at the back of my tacticals) which I hope to complete within a couple of weeks.

Thank you for reading.
